Mental Health Counseling

A balanced stack of seven smooth stones on a weathered wooden surface with a blurred sunset background.

Some days, it’s hard to explain why you feel off. You’re doing all the right things, but everything still feels heavier than usual. That doesn’t make you weak; it makes you human.

Mental health shapes your emotions, thoughts and actions. It helps you connect with others, handle stress, make choices and find meaning. It can change overtime. Mental health affects everyone at every age, but each person’s journey is different. Some people have a smooth path. Others may face bumps along the way, including emotional responses to life changes.

Taking care of your mental health isn’t just good for your mood; it’s essential for your whole body. Your mind needs care just like your body does to stay healthy. But your mind and body don’t work in isolation, they’re part of the same system.

Aging, life stressors, Life Transitions

Why is it important to take care of our mental health as we age?

As people age, they may experience certain life changes that impact their mental health, such as coping with a serious illness, losing a loved one, stress at work, or moving. Although many people will adjust to these life changes, some may experience feelings of grief, social isolation, or loneliness. When these feelings persist, they can lead to mental illnesses, such as depression and anxiety.

Mental health is important at every stage of life. Therapy is an effective treatment option available to help aging adults manage their mental health and improve their quality of life.

Change can stir up uncertainty, even when it’s a positive change. I’ll help you navigate these shifts so you can move forward with more confidence and clarity.

Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Depression

Coping with stress and anxiety will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger. Everyone reacts differently to stressful situations. How you respond can depend on your background, the things that make you different from other people, and the community you live in. If you have feelings of numbness, disbelief, anxiety or fear, changes in appetite, energy, or activity levels, or have difficulty sleeping, therapy may help.

With today's challenges, we need more effective and efficient strategies for managing our lives. Whether it is a lifetime of worry, reoccurring depression, or a recent crisis; my gift is empowering people to overcome their obstacles.

Grief/Loss

In life, we experience many kinds of loss; we lose partners, friends, careers, opportunities, chapters of our life, our physical health, abilities, and ultimately our own lives.

Grief counseling offers a safe space for you to unpack your emotions without the fear of hearing well-meaning but difficult opinions from other people. Grief is a complicated emotion that at times outsiders can struggle to empathize with.

I work with people experiencing loss and grief, and individuals experiencing anticipatory grief, such as living with a loved one who is in the process of dying due to Alzheimer’s, cancer or other medical conditions.

There is no immediate solution to grief, but rather a process working with our capacity to carry it over time.
